Does this happen to you too?

The mail just got delivered. You glance down and see that most of it is exactly what you don’t want: mostly bills.

The fear and anxiety starts to build as you think about how you’re going to deal with them.

You’re not alone.

Even the most successful people alive have had those same feelings and have faced similar situations in their lives.

So what did they do to change course?

How did they get from a place of fear and anxiety to a place a happiness and joy?

Personally, I think the “how” is the least important part of the puzzle. What seems to be more important and what is typically the motivating factor is to answer the question “why” instead.

Why did they get from a difficult situation to one where they no longer worry about the never-ending stream of bills that show up month after month.

Why do they get to live a happier life than most of society?

My thinking goes like this. Wherever you are today, that’s where you start. It is very likely not the most ideal situation, but it’s where you are, so use where you are as the place to start your journey to where you want to be.

I know that sounds simple, but think about how many times you’ve heard people say “If only… then I would be able to get to where I want to be!”

And so they remain forever where they are. Decades go by and they are still waiting.. Where you are is where you are and it’s the perfect place to begin.

If you have a clear idea of where you’d like to be, that’s great! If not, just knowing that you want something better than you have right now is also a very good place to start.

The next phase is perhaps the easiest, yet also the place most people will fail and ultimately stop. Don’t be THAT person!

Each day, pay attention to anything that is working for you rather than all the things that are not working for you.

We’re taught to look at the “problems” and we have learned that talking about them again and again is “normal” and so we gleefully engage in conversations that are really nothing more than a series of complaints laced together.

I know.. I was once one of those people too… It got ugly for me in ways I hope I never have to live through again.

So I tried something different. It took a ton of effort, but it was worth it.

I began to notice the things that were working out for me and began to shift my conversations to those things instead of doing it the old way and talking about what was not working.

Soon, I started to get a sense of momentum building around me as more and more I noticed that there was actually more that was working for me than I’d ever imagined.

This new found sense of happiness began to show itself in ways that those around me noticed and commented about.

In a very short time, I realized that I had totally re-invented myself.

I wanted to share this with you today because YOU can re-invent yourself too! It will require effort to break old habits, but it can be done, and if you have a big enough “why” you’ll find a way to get it done, today, tomorrow, everyday.

Start where you are, start right now. And, soon, you’ll look back and wonder how you could have ever been where you are today.
